Here are the top 3 stories today in Orange County:

  1. Two people died Monday in the Fairview Fire in Avery Canyon trying to escape the rapidly-moving fire. The quick-moving fire has already burned over 2,000 acres and destroyed seven structures, Cal Fire reported. An evacuation center has been set up at Tahquitz High School at 4425 Titan Trail in Hemet. The wildfire quickly swept through the foothills east of Hemet on Monday, Sept. 5. Officials said the fire was moving west toward Diamond Valley Lake and was only 5 percent contained Monday night. Deputies are in evacuated areas to protect homes from looters and help anyone that needs help. Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Anaheim Fire & Rescue and Ventura County were all called to help fight the blaze. (Orange County Register via Facebook)
  2. A power outage hit more than 3,000 homes in Laguna Beach Labor Day during the height of the heat wave. Southern California Edison, which supplies almost all of the region’s electricity, reported the power outage across much of Laguna Beach amid the record-breaking heat on Monday, Sept. 5. around 1 p.m. It took several hours to restore power. Elliot Mainzer, chief executive officer of the California Independent System Operator which runs the state’s power grid, said at a press conference Monday morning that "rotating outages are a possibility today.” SCE couldn't say if the heatwave had an impact on the Laguna Beach outage until their investigation is completed, but the company noted "they have seen outages due to the weather in the past." 3. The O.C. Brew Ha Ha is getting back to its craft beer roots in Silverado. The one-day craft beer event will be on Sept. 10 at Oak Canyon Park. Brew Ha Ha will feature 160 tastings from craft beer breweries, hard seltzer and kombucha makers, cider houses and meaderies. The event expanded to include a ska music festival in recent years that organizers said has playfully been referred to as the Brew Ska Ska. Promoter Cameron Collins of OC Brew Ha Ha Productions said it was time to bring the focus back to the beer. (OC Register)
