Family Grieves Loss Of Father Who Was Killed Working Along 91 Freeway

BUENA PARK, CA — Family members are grieving the loss of a 45-year-old father who was killed while he worked along the 91 Freeway in Buena Park, ABC 7 reported.

The man, identified as Jose Mantecon, was working as a Caltrans subcontractor when he was fatally struck by a pick-up truck early Friday morning near Beach Boulevard.

He was taken to the hospital but did not survive his injuries, according to police.

Mantecon leaves behind a wife of 15 years and his two children — a 12-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son, whose 10th birthday is next week, ABC 7 reported.

"Part of me left with him," his mother, Vivian Mantecon, told ABC 7. "I don't know what my life is going to be from now on. Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays. It's never going to be the same."
