Man, 28, Drove Into 2 People On Purpose In OC, Police Say

A 28-year-old man was charged Monday with deliberately running into two people while driving out of a convenience store parking lot.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A 28-year-old man was charged Monday with deliberately running into two people, leaving one struggling for his life, while driving out of a convenience store parking lot in Anaheim.

Alex Figueroachavez was charged with two counts of attempted murder with sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on one victim and the personal use of a deadly weapon.

The defendant "exchanged words" with the two victims and then struck them with his vehicle while driving away from a parking lot about 1:30 a.m. Friday at 1001 N. Harbor Blvd., said Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter.

One of the victims remained hospitalized Monday in critical condition.

Figueroachavez did not enter a plea at his arraignment Monday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. He is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 6 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
