Major Change Coming To California Pizza Kitchen
The chain is expected to be sold by the end of the year.

COSTA MESA, CA — California Pizza Kitchen is expected to be purchased by a group of investors this month, and plans are underway to expand its franchise and grocery presence.
Consortium Brand Partners, a consumer brand investment platform, together with Eldridge Industries, Aurify Brands and Convive Brands, announced Tuesday that they had entered into an agreement to acquire the casual dining chain.
Growth plans include accelerating domestic and international franchise expansion and extending the brand into new product categories, according to a news release announcing the purchase.

“California Pizza Kitchen is an iconic American brand that has inspired generations of fans through creativity, flavor, and innovation,” Jonathan Greller, president and cofounder of Consortium Brand Partners, said in the news release.
“We are thrilled to partner with Eldridge Industries, Aurify Brands, and Convive Brands to build on CPK’s rich heritage by expanding its global restaurant footprint, growing its grocery presence, and exploring new product categories that celebrate California creativity and flavor.”

Convive Brands will direct global operations and serve as master franchisor for all restaurants worldwide. Jon Weber, CEO of Convive Brands, will also be CEO of the CPK restaurant group.
Current President Michael Beacham will lead the consumer packaged goods division, Reuters reported, adding that five years have passed since California Pizza Kitchen filed for a coronavirus pandemic-related bankruptcy, after which it was owned by lenders.
Founded in 1985 in Beverly Hills, California Pizza Kitchen now has over 120 restaurants in 10 countries, along with frozen pizzas and other products in more than 10,000 grocery stores. The brand also recently launched a pizza vending machine concept, bringing pizzas to airports, campuses and entertainment venues.
