Here are the top 3 stories in Orange County today:
- A shout out to two of our best Orange County surfers with huge wins at this week’s World Tour in Tahiti. Santa Ana’s Courtney Conlogue won in Tahiti, coming out on top of the women’s event of the Outerknown Tahiti Pro. It was her first big World Tour win since 2019. Kanoa Igarashi of Huntington Beach, who was knocked out of the event in the quarterfinals, had a strong enough performance to make it to the World Surf League Finals at Lower Trestles in September. "The event brought big barrels and big victories." (Orange County Register via Facebook)
- A team from San Diego SeaWorld returned three endangered fur seals found near death on Orange and Los Angeles County beaches to the ocean off La Jolla on Friday. The seals were at least double the weight when they were found. Guadalupe fur seals are on the Endangered Species list. Way to go, San Diego SeaWorld! (Orange County Register via Facebook)
- An elderly man was nearly hit by an SUV that crashed into his two-story home. The crash happened at about 12:15 p.m. on Thursday. Edward Jollie, the Huntington Beach homeowner, said he would have been killed if he hadn't gotten up to walk to the bathroom. "Two, three, four, five seconds after that saw a car come through the house." The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital. (Orange County Patch)
