OC Supervisors Elect Chairman, Vice Chair For 2025
Orange County Supervisor Doug Chaffee was elected board chairman for 2025 Tuesday.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Orange County Supervisor Doug Chaffee was elected board chairman for 2025 Tuesday.
Chaffee, who previously served as board chairman in 2022, stepped up from vice chairman last year. The election by his fellow supervisors came a day after he was selected as chairman of the Orange County Transportation Authority board.
Chaffee, a Democrat, was elected to the board in 2018 and re-elected in 2022.

Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, also a Democrat, was elected vice chair. Foley first took office in 2021 when she won a special election due to a vacancy created when Michelle Steel was elected to Congress.
Foley then won a four-year term in 2022.

"I want to thank my vice-chair for his service to this board for the last six years," said Supervisor Don Wagner, who served as chairman for the past two years.
Wagner made the motion for Chaffee and Foley, which was approved unanimously.
"Congratulations to Supervisor -- now Chairman -- Chaffee," Wagner said.
"I look forward to a great year under your leadership, and I will pass the FBI off to you," Wagner said, joking about gadfly claims of county corruption reported to the FBI.
"I want to thank the chairman for his service, which has been extraordinary," Chaffee said.
"I admire his energy... and the energy you've given all of us, and following the rules as you proceeded, which is tough, and some people were not exactly thrilled with, but you did the job you needed to do," Chaffee added, referring to the at-times truculent community comments at the board's meetings that have drawn threats from Wagner to clear the room or to even have some speakers ejected.
