One Of The Country's Best New Restaurants Is In OC: Ranking

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — One of Yelp’s Best New Restaurants of 2024 is in Orange County.

The online review website gave Paseo — an upscale Mexican food restaurant located in Downtown Disney — the 9th spot on the list.

"Each dish was a harmonious blend of bold flavors and creative presentation," one Yelper wrote. "The Yucatan fish was light, bursting with freshness and a good kick. The french onion soup was rich and complex flavor with rajas. The margaritas were a delightful complement to the meal, perfectly crafted and refreshing."

Paseo's kitchen is led by chef Carlos Gaytán, the first Mexican-born chef to receive a Michelin star, who serves an array of personal recipes — such as Mama's Cochinita Pibil, a slow-roasted pork shank served with beans and homemade tortillas.

"Our vision was to establish Paseo as a place where both locals and visitors could feel at home, savoring dishes that tell a uniquely personal story," John Kolaski, president of Patina Restaurant Group, which operates the spot with Chef Carlos.

To determine the ranking, Yelp considered the volume and ratings of reviews for full-service restaurants that opened after Jan. 1, 2023, and consulted with trend expert Tara Lewis.
