Police Kill 19-Year-Old Who Had Pellet Gun, Swung Knife At Father: PD

FULLERTON, CA — A teenager was shot and killed overnight by police in Fullerton, according to authorities.

Officers responded around midnight to a 911 call from a person who said his 19-year-old brother had a knife and swung it at his father in the 700 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue, according to police.

Officers saw a man who matched the provided description outside the home and gave him several commands, police said, adding the man did not cooperate and lifted his shirt and removed what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband. At that point, he was shot by police, according to authorities.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the shooting per standard protocol, while Fullerton detectives are investigating the case to which officers initially responded, authorities said, adding the teen’s identity will be released by the county coroner.
