- The FDA has issued a recall for Brie and Camembert cheeses in California. The recall has been issued for 25 brands of cheese that may be contaminated with the deadly listeria bacteria that has already sickened and hospitalized some people. The affected products were distributed from Aug. 1 through Wednesday to retailers including Stop & Shop, Whole Foods and Lidl. Consumers and restaurants who purchased the impacted products should immediately throw them away. Several brands are included in the recall, including Reny Picot, Glenview Farms, Inspiration, and others. (Orange County Patch)
- Some of the best things in life are free—and in Costa Mesa, it's free admission to a "dazzling" new museum. The Orange County Museum of Art is offering free admission for its first 10 years! The museum is rolling out the red carpet, and everyone is invited. The museum features many gathering spaces and walls of windows that "let people outside see the art." The $94 million museum opens Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. (Subscription/OC Register)
- A train-track emergency has been declared by the Orange County Transportation Authority. The seaside bluff in San Clemente is shifting and needs to be stabilized immediately, transportation officials said. OCTA gave emergency approvals to start the $12 million project "to shore up an unstable landslide that is shifting a seaside bluff in south San Clemente." The shifting land is causing damage to an "important rail line" that runs along the beach carrying commuters and transporting freight. Train service was halted late last week after storm surges caused the seaside bluff to shift. (Subscription/OC Register)
