This Disneyland Ride Is Getting A Makeover

ANAHEIM, CA — The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride at Disneyland will introduce a new storyline inspired by the hit television show “The Mandalorian” next year.
Plans for the storyline were announced in the summer of 2024 but new details were released last week. Smugglers Run is located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park. The ride can also be found at Disney World, and that location will have a Mandalorian-themed storyline as well.
The storyline will launch May 22, 2026 — the same day as the debut of Lucasfilm’s upcoming movie, “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” although the story incorporated in the ride will differ from the plot of the movie, according to the Disney Parks Blog.

“In this new thrilling storyline, Hondo Ohnaka has gotten wind of a deal going down on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and a band of pirates,” according to the blog. “There’s a generous bounty for their capture, so you’ll borrow the iconic ship and team up with Mando and Grogu to track them down and explore the galaxy.”

Starting the day the storyline launches, riders will for the first time ever be in control of their destination on the atrraction and those in the engineer positions will be able to communicate with Grogu — perhaps better known as “Baby Yoda” — during the mission.
“The intersection of storytelling and innovation has always been central to Lucasfilm and we’re excited to see where this collaboration will take us next,” Star Wars creative executive Dave Filoni said at a fan event in 2024, according to the blog. “Just imagine it: you’ll be able to fly alongside Mando and Grogu on thrilling, and dangerous, missions.”
