- What you need to know about Southern California housing collapse: Home sales in Orange County have plunged after a 47 percent payment jump, according to Jonathan Lansner, business columnist for the Southern California News Group. What does that mean for Orange County? With high home prices and increasing mortgage rates, "August sales were the third-slowest since 1988." (Orange Coast Magazine)
- Be alert Orange County drivers! On Tuesday, Sept. 20, a wrong-way driver was reported on the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway in Los Angeles during the morning rush hour. - Orange County Supervisors may have reignited a simmering debate about renaming John Wayne Airport. Orange County supervisors voted to spend $50,000 on new logos for John Wayne Airport, prompting a flurry of social media posts asking if the name "is still the right fit" for a local airport that's in an "increasingly diverse metropolitan county." Aimee Monahan of Aliso Viejo wrote, "If they spend $50K it better be to drop the John Wayne moniker...Just call it Santa Ana or Orange County Airport." Another person wrote, “Rename it to what it ALREADY is in the airport code (SNA) to the Santa Ana Airport or at least call it the Orange County Airport." (Voice of OC)
