Here are the top 3 stories in Orange County today:

  1. The Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and Meals on Wheels are partnering to help feed kids this summer through the 2022 Summer Food Service Program. The summer food program is free for all children who are 18 years of age and younger. The meal trucks can be found at 39 sites across the county — to find the one closest to you, call 211 or text 898211 for hours of distribution. (Los Angeles Times)
  2. A 30-year-old man was convicted this week for killing his father and father's girlfriend and wounding two more victims at a home in Aliso Viejo in 2017. Jurors deliberated the case for about three hours before convicting Luke William Ferguson of two counts each of murder and attempted murder. Ferguson is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 24 and faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. (KFI AM 640)
  3. A new site for cancer patients, City of Hope, will open in Orange County at the end of August. The center's president, Annette Walker, says the new facility will deliver some of the most comprehensive treatment, research, and cancer cures available to patients. The center hopes to make effective care more accessible to patients in Orange County, where 20 percent currently must leave the area for specialty care, clinical trials, and research.
