Suspect Driving Stolen Truck From Whittier Arrested In Orange County

A man behind the wheel of a stolen pickup led law enforcement on a high-speed vehicle pursuit that ended with his arrest, authorities said.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A man behind the wheel of a stolen pickup in Whittier led law enforcement on a high-speed vehicle pursuit that ended with his arrest in Orange County, authorities said Saturday.

The chase began Friday night in Whittier as officers observed a Chevrolet Silverado that had been reported stolen and the driver eluded police on city streets before speeding onto the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, KCAL reported.

The California Highway Patrol was notified of the pursuit at about 8:45 p.m. and located the vehicle on the Pomona (60) Freeway near Crossroads Parkway in Industry. The vehicle then went onto the 605 Freeway, to the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway and into Orange County, the CHP reported.

The motorist behind the wheel of the truck was taken into custody at about 10:20 p.m Friday, the CHP said. According to ABC7, CHP officers found the suspect at the scene of a rollover crash on Highway 261 in Irvine, just north of Portola Parkway.
