  1. "Pressure is building" for the Orange County Animal Care shelter to "fully reopen" to the public. Animal lovers and advocates say O.C. Animal Care's controversial "appointment-only" pet policy that started during the pandemic results in fewer animal adoptions and unnecessary euthanization. So far, OCAC is unwilling to change the policy. But "OC Animal Care staff and two members of the committee agreed to meet in the next few weeks to come up with a reopening plan that could be presented to the public during their next meeting in January." (KABC-TV)
  2. Model train enthusiasts and city officials met Tuesday at Costa Mesa's Fairview Park, to celebrate a new model train trestle bridge, which was rededicated "to Hank Hornsveld, who built the original trestle three decades earlier." Model train whistles all blew at the same time for a "Big Toot" salute. (Los Angeles Times)
  3. People are wondering if the embattled CEO of Orange County’s Green Power Agency is on his way out. The Orange County Power Authority has been talking since June about firing CEO Brian Probolsky for "lack of transparency" and concerns that he doesn't have the needed experience for the top green-energy position. But the O.C. agency did not make a final decision when they met behind closed doors on Tuesday. (Voice of OC)
  4. A federal judge ruled that an O.C. emergency homeless shelter can move forward in Santa Ana. Santa Ana neighbors and city council members protested the placement of another temporary homeless shelter in its city and asked officials to open the new shelter in south Orange County. (Voice of OC)
