Woman Killed By Bullet Meant For 2 Teenage Boys In Orange County
The 36-year-old woman who died after being struck by a stray bullet was a resident of Santa Ana.
SANTA ANA, CA — A woman died last week after she was struck by a bullet that was fired at two teenage boys who were running from a drive-by shooting in Santa Ana, authorities said.
Maria Del Rufugio Mora of Santa Ana was identified as the victim, the Santa Ana Police Department said in a statement Saturday.
Officers found Mora suffering from a gunshot wound on Dec. 4 in a parking lot at 1473 S. Main St. around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but she died of her injuries on Friday, the department said.

The department released footage that showed the two boys dropping and rolling away from the gunfire as they were shot at.
They were shot at by suspects in a white-colored sedan last weekend. The two ran into a parking lot as they were being shot at.

Mora, an innocent bystander, was hit by stray gunfire and the boys were unharmed, police said.
"The circumstances surrounding this shooting are currently being investigated, however detectives believe the motive could be gang-related," officials said. "Detectives are attempting to identify and locate any witnesses who can shed light on this incident.'
