• New California law will limit phone use in schools starting in 2026 (ksby.com) — Orcutt families should know the Orcutt Union School District is already following California’s new Phone-Free Schools Act, with an “off and away” cellphone policy in place for students. The district spent the past year studying research and surveying parents, staff, and students before recommending the rule, which keeps phones in backpacks while still allowing exceptions for emergencies and medical needs.
   

• PG&E to conduct drone inspections over parts of Central Coast (ksby.com) — Orcutt residents can expect to see PG&E drones overhead in the coming weeks as the utility inspects power lines and poles in hard-to-reach areas. The daytime flights are meant to spot equipment problems before winter storms, won’t cut power, and will only photograph PG&E infrastructure, not homes or private property.
