• Contra Costa County water bills rise to pay for drought-ready purification (richmondside.org) — Orinda’s 90-year-old EBMUD water treatment plant on Camino Pablo is undergoing a $341 million upgrade to add ultraviolet purification, helping protect local water quality during future droughts. To fund this and similar projects, EBMUD customers are seeing back-to-back 6.5% bill increases through next year, with completion of the Orinda work expected by early 2027. 
• Orinda: Cinderella (1950) (kkiq.com) — Orinda movie lovers can look forward to a new Disney Restorations Series launching at the historic Orinda Theatre, with screenings the first Saturday of every month starting in 2026. The year-long program will feature rarely seen restored classics, opening with Disney’s 1950 animated Cinderella and hosted by film critic Matias Bombal, bringing a unique cinema experience close to home.
• Diddy dodges civil suit over accused 2018 sexual assault (courthousenews.com) — A federal judge in San Francisco has dismissed a civil lawsuit accusing Sean “Diddy” Combs, Odell Beckham Jr., and others of a 2018 sexual assault after the plaintiffs repeatedly missed court deadlines. In denying the claims, Beckham publicly stated he has never met the accuser and has never been to Orinda briefly putting the city’s name into the high-profile case.
