'Ghost Gun,' Drugs Found After Officer Track Fleeing Car To Nearby SMC City: Police

Officers did not pursue the car that fled at a high rate of speed but used technology to track it to a neighboring city, police said.

PACIFICA, CA — Officers arrested a 42-year-old Daly City resident Saturday who fled at a high rate of speed but was tracked down in a nearby city and found with suspected drugs and an unserialized handgun, police said.

At around 7:57 p.m. on Saturday, Pacifica Police Department officers said they attempted to pull over a car in the area of Reina Del Mar and SR-1 for a vehicle code violation.

Officers said the driver fled and a police pursuit was initiated but terminated shortly after due to safety risks.

Police said they instead used license plate tracking technology to locate the car and suspect in a nearby city.

The driver, a 42-year-old Daly City resident, was found in possession of a "ghost gun," suspected drugs and an illegal weapon.

The suspect was booked into the San Mateo County jail on multiple felony charges.

Police have not released their identity at this time.
