Obituary: Margaret 'Peggy' Welsh, 95, Of Pacifica

Margaret had lived in Pacifica since 1960. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church on Thursday.

PACIFICA, CA — Margaret “Peggy” Welsh passed away peacefully from colon cancer on Jan. 22, 2022, at her longtime Pacifica home with her family and St. Peter’s prayer group by her side.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Donald and Irene Mosshart, and the older sister to Donald and Ellen.

A graduate of the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, she worked in the interior design field in New York City before relocating to San Francisco in 1956. There she met and married Larry Edwards in 1957 and moved in 1960 to Pacifica. She was a loving mother to John, Joseph and Mary.

After Larry’s death in 1970, she became a teacher’s aide in the local elementary schools.

In 1984, she wed Edward Welsh, a retired UA mechanic. They traveled the world extensively until his death in 2009.

Margaret was recently predeceased by her daughter Mary Buttram (John). She is survived by her sons John (granddaughter Kimberly and great-granddaughter Philomena) and Joseph; granddaughter Jennifer Buttram Boggs (Bill); brother Donald Mosshart and sister Ellen Donnelly (Rosemary Grammer and son Michael); Michael Donnelly (Linda) and son Nick; Edward Donnelly; and stepdaughter Maura Whitmer and family.

A funeral mass will be held for Margaret and Mary at St. Peter’s, Pacifica, at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 3, 2022.
