At Pacifica Co-op Nursery School the sense of community is strong.

On a sunny Saturday morning in October, this community of parents, teachers, children and friends worked together to produce a fun-filled family day for Co-op Members and important fundraiser for their beloved preschool. Students solicited donations by getting sponsored by friends and family to ride in the annual Trike-A-Thon.

Many of the children rode proudly for Pacifica Co-op Nursery School in their Halloween costumes.

Four year-old Paizly Ravazza, who was dressed as a princess, had the following to say after her many laps around the chalk-lined track: “I did 20….45 laps and earned lots-a-bucks for my school!” (Almost) 3-year-old, Otto Sosnowski, proudly announced, “I rode really fast and did 120 laps!”

After their tiny peddling feet tired, the children enjoyed a carnival complete with games, face painting and ice cream.

It was great to see the pride in all of their eyes as they watched their parents work together to create such a magical event for them.

This years Trike-A-Thon Chairperson, Kate Sosnowski, said, "This is my favorite Pacifica event! Trike-A-Thon is an age old tradition for our school and this year we were able to integrate some amazing donors such as Mazzetti's and Beach Monkey Cafe to take the event to the next level. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful membership of families and community supporters to create magic and fun for our children!"

Jen Wyatt, President of the Board at the Co-op, added, “The success of this year’s Trike-A-Thon is a reflection of the operation of our beloved co-op as a whole. This event, just like the everyday operation of our school, depends on a strong community of families coming together, each bringing unique talents and abilities, in contribution to a common goal for the benefit of our children.  n the case of the Trike-A-Thon the goal was for our children and families to have fun together with friends while raising much needed funds for the operation of our school. This year’s event was a success on both fronts!”

All proceeds earned will go towards school improvements. Beach Monkey Café, Mazzetti’s, Oceana Market and Safeway generously sponsored this event.
