PPDC spokesman Adam Wolman said they also invite members in good standing to vote to ratify the selection of a slate of PPDC executive board officers for 2013. A nominating committee selects a proposed executive board slate from among the 25 to 30 board members.

In recent years, the PPDC hosted Rep. Henry Waxman, state controller John Chiang and L.A. Times columnist Michael Hiltzik. They also recently had a candidates forum featuring Richard Bloom, Besty Butler and Torie Osborn vying for the clubs endorsement for state assembly.

"The PPDC board of directors will be voting the day of the forum to potentially endorse one of the four candidates who attends," Wolman said. "If no candidate achieves the 60 percent of the vote that's required, the club won't endorse for the primary, but will revisit the issue for the general election."
