1 Person Killed In Fiery Desert Crash On Interstate 10
The crash was reported just on the eastbound side of the freeway, west of Eagle Mountain Road.

DESERT CENTER, CA — A fatal Interstate 10 crash early Tuesday morning in Desert Center remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported just before 1 a.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway, west of Eagle Mountain Road.
According to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, a passenger vehicle hit a tractor-trailer, causing both vehicles to erupt into flames.

One person in the passenger vehicle died at the scene. The semi-truck driver was unharmed, according to the fire department.
No other injuries were reported.

As of 9:30 a.m., the #2 lane of eastbound I-10 was closed west of Eagle Mountain and a SigAlert remained in place.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash cause.
