2 Arrested On Suspicion Of Assault, Battery In Riverside County

Two men were released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery and drug-related offenses.

BLYTHE, CA — Two Blythe men were released this weekend after being arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery and drug-related offenses.

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of 28th Avenue in an unincorporated area near Blythe on a report of a battery around 10:55 a.m. Friday, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced.

Investigators found that a woman had been traveling in a vehicle on 28th with two men identified as 22-year-old Christian Urias and 24-year-old Brandon Hernandez.

While driving, an argument ensued, in which Urias allegedly strangled the victim while Hernandez allegedly physically assaulted her.

Deputies later located the suspects in the 500 block of Donlon Street and attempted to take the suspects into custody with help from the Colorado River Special Enforcement Team, but the suspects allegedly ran from the location. Both were later taken into custody without incident with help from the Blythe Police Department.

The two were booked into the John Benoit Detention Center; Urias was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and drug-related offenses and Hernandez on suspicion of battery and drug-related offenses.

Urias was released on a $50,000 bail on Sunday, and was scheduled to appear in court on June 5 at the Blythe Courthouse. Hernandez was released on a $25,000 bail on Saturday and was expected to appear in court on June 17 also at the Blythe Courthouse.
