2 Hurt After Semi Overturns On I-10 Near Palm Springs

The California Highway Patrol reported Monday that an overturned semi-truck was blocking all lanes on Interstate 10 near State Route 62.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Two people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries Monday after a semi-truck they were in had a blowout and overturned on Interstate 10 near Palm Springs Monday, forcing the closure of two lanes.

The California Highway Patrol reported at 9:48 a.m. Monday that an overturned semi-truck was blocking all lanes on Interstate 10 near State Route 62.

The truck's rear tires blew out, causing it to overturn on the freeway, CHP public information officer David Torres told City News Service.

The two occupants were subsequently taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, he said.

Three lanes on the freeway were blocked by the semi-truck and SigAlert was issued at 9:54 a.m., according to the CHP. Shortly after, two lanes were reported open while two remained closed.

By around 12:40 p.m., Torres said that traffic was heavily backed up and the road closure was expected to continue to remain in place for a little over an hour.
