Whether your time, money or talent, here are five Coachella Valley nonprofits that could use your assistance this holiday season.

PALM DESERT, CA — Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back and get involved in your community. Fortunately for folks in the Palm Springs area, there’s no shortage of organizations nearby that would love to have your help.

"In Palm Desert, over 100 residents serve on Palm Desert’s 16 standing committees and commissions, and represent the community through appointments to outside organizations such as The Joslyn Center," a city spokesperson wrote on their website. Another 125 or so dedicated citizens volunteer on the City's behalf ."

Programs such as Palm Desert Citizens on Patrol, at municipal facilities such as the Palm Desert Public Library. "These City volunteers represent just a small fraction of the countless Palm Desert residents and members of the local business community who selflessly give of their time as volunteers to work on behalf of local charities and nonprofits," they said. "The City deeply appreciates and gratefully recognizes the service of all of these volunteers for their generosity, hard work, and dedication to our community.

2. Well in the Desert: With a focus on providing food, clothing and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty, this organization offers programs for poverty prevention and intervention. Services include hot meals and food distribution, resume assistance, transportation options and holiday support for families in need. Learn more at wellinthedesert.com.

3. Palm Springs Animal Shelter: With programs for pets and pet owners, this organization promotes the humane treatment of animals in the Palm Springs area. In addition to adoption services, the shelter hosts regular events and operates a pet food pantry. 4. Gay For Good Palm Springs: By partnering with local organizations, Gay For Good mobilizes the local LGBTQ+ community to connect with the larger Palm Springs community. 5. Palm Springs International Film Society: With the 35th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival set for January 2024, this event will once again bring filmmakers and audiences from around the world to the city.
