61-Year-Old Dirt Bike Rider Dies After Crashing At RivCo Desert Race
Phillip Means was a recent regular competitor at local dirt bike competitions in Eastern Riverside County.
BLYTHE, CA — A 61-year-old Arizona man died Sunday following a crash during a dirt bike race in Eastern Riverside County.
Phillip Means of Lake Havasu City was involved in the wreck at the May 5 American Motorcyclist Association District 38 Grand Prix event at Shorty's Sports Park, 1650 N. Lovekin Blvd. in Blythe.
California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Knutson told City News Service that Means was transported to a hospital about 12 miles away. He was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m. Sunday, according to the coroner.

Race records show Means was a recent regular competitor at local dirt bike competitions.
According to its Facebook page, Shorty's Sports Park is an off-road desert race track overlooking the Palo Verde Valley. The venue features special event races that are open to all riders, campers, spectators and racing enthusiasts.
