CACTUS CITY, CA — A 64-year-old man killed last week in an off-road vehicle crash near the Cactus City rest area has been identified as an Indio resident.
The body of Charles Housewright II was found around 3 p.m. Friday in the open desert west of Cottonwood Springs Road and north of Interstate 10, according to the coroner.
The coroner reported that an exact crash time was still under investigation, but California Highway Patrol Officer David Torres told KESQ that Housewright was riding a red Can-Am Outlander 570 quad southbound on an unimproved dirt road and remained straddled to the vehicle as it overturned.
