In addition to her performances, Peters devotes time to numerous events that benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Her "pet project," Broadway Barks, co-founded with Mary Tyler Moore, is an annual, star-studded dog and cat adoption event that benefits shelter animals in the New York City and tri-state area.

At next year's gala concert featuring Peters, The Desert Symphony will also honor Jack and Maggy Simon with its Amadeus Award, presented to those who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the arts, philanthropy, and music in building community.

“Though Jack is no longer with us, his spirit of generosity and love for the arts continues to shine through Maggy, who carries forward their shared legacy of philanthropy here in the desert,” Tapick said. “Together, they have been extraordinary supporters of the arts, theater, and especially music. Maggy’s own remarkable career as a singer makes this recognition even more poignant. She embodies the very heart of music and community that The Desert Symphony celebrates.”

Tickets for the gala dinner and general admission seating for the concert are available for purchase online at DesertSymphony.org or by calling 760-773-5988. Doors for general admission seating open at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.
