Man, 23, Shot Dead In Coachella Valley; No Arrests Made

Detectives are actively investigating the shooting and police said there is no known threat to the community.

INDIO, CA — No arrests have been reported after a 23-year-old man was killed in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Indio, police said.

Officers with the Indio Police Department responded around 1:12 p.m. on Tuesday to a report of shots fired in the 47000 block of Dove Street. Upon arrival, officers identified two related crime scenes — one on Dove Street and another on Bluejay Street, according to Indio Police PIO Sergeant Abe Plata.

Police said they located the victim on Bluejay Street suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers and first responders immediately rendered life-saving measures, and the man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

When asked whether a suspect has been identified, Plata told Patch the department had no further comment and that an update would be released at a later time.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
