Alleged DUI Driver Arrested in Palm Desert Following Minor Crash, Police Say

Stan Barron, 58, of Rancho Mirage was arrested on suspicion of DUI at about 12:45 p.m. Saturday at Highway 111 and Lupine Lane in Palm Desert, police said.

A 58-year-old Rancho Mirage man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies with the Palm Desert station responded at about 12:45 p.m. Saturday to a call of an impaired driver in the area of Highway 111 and San Pablo Avenue in Palm Desert, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Dan Devinny said in a news release.

"The suspect vehicle was spotted in the area and deputies prepared to make an enforcement stop near Hwy 111 and Lupine," Devinny said. "Prior to the enforcement stop, the vehicle collided with a parked vehicle, causing minor damage to both vehicles."

The driver, Stan Barron, 58, of Rancho Mirage was contacted and given a series of field sobriety tests before he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to Devinny.

Barron was booked into the county jail in Indio.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident, Devinny said.
