Banning Woman ID'd As Victim Of Palm Springs Crash: Coroner

A 77-year-old Banning woman died after her car collided with another vehicle near the Highway 111 and Overture Drive intersection, CHP says.

BANNING, CA — A 77-year-old Banning woman killed in a two-vehicle freeway crash near Palm Springs was publicly identified Tuesday.

Shortly before noon Monday, a crash occurred on Highway 111 near Overture Drive, according to California Highway Patrol officer David Torres.

Susan Cobb of Banning was driving a white Mazda southbound when a black Ford pick-up truck crossed in front of her vehicle. The Mazda then “broadsided the pick-up,” Torres said.

She was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for further treatment and died less than three hours later, according to the coroner's report.

The driver of the Ford reported having some pain but suffered no serious injuries. He was the lone occupant of that vehicle.
