Bicyclist Struck, Killed On Frank Sinatra Drive: Cops
A bicyclist traversing the Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive intersection was struck and killed, officials say.

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA — A bicyclist riding near Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive was struck and killed on New Year's Day, officials say.
Shortly before 10:15 a.m., emergency responders arrived at the intersection to find an unresponsive man who had been struck by a white SUV.
The cyclist had suffered significant injuries and lay in the westbound lanes of Highway 111, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Bryan Whitley.

Despite life-saving efforts, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, and the SUV driver remained at the location and cooperated with the investigation, according to Whitley.
Highway 111 and nearby surface streets remained closed during the investigation, which lasted several hours.

"The Palm Desert Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and took over the investigation. At this time, there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are available," he said.
