PALM DESERT, CA -- An alleged intoxicated man on Sunday crashed his car in Indian Wells then told police he was not the driver of the vehicle. Police on Monday said officers responded to the incident around 12:47 a.m. Sunday in the 7700 block of east bound Fred Waring Ave.

Officers said they found a blue Honda Civic that had crashed into the center median and the owner of the car, Jose Gudino, 37, of Palm Desert, beside it. Gudino told police his friend crashed his car before running away.

Gudino was evaluated by Riverside County Fire before being taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and assessed for driving under the influence, police said.
