2 Arrested, 9 Cited At Cathedral City DUI Checkpoint
More than 400 drivers passed through the overnight operation.
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — Two people were arrested and nine others cited during a DUI checkpoint conducted late last week in Cathedral City, according to authorities.
The checkpoint was held Dec. 19 on Date Palm Drive at Victoria Drive from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. During that time, 881 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and officers made contact with 416 drivers.
Both arrests involved drivers operating vehicles on DUI-suspended licenses. Eight people were cited for driving without a license, and one person received a citation for having an open container.

Officials said DUI checkpoint locations are selected based on areas with a history of impaired-driving-related crashes. The primary goal of the checkpoints is to improve public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the roadway.
The next DUI checkpoint in Cathedral City is scheduled for the summer of 2026.

Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
