INDIO, CA— A magnitude 3.24 earthquake struck with an epicenter near Coachella, California, in Riverside County on Friday, the United States Geological Survey website confirmed.
The temblor was reported shortly before 6:45 a.m., and the quake rattled residents from Riverside County to Northern San Diego County, according to initial reports.
Scientists have confirmed that the quake's depth was about 7.3 km below the surface. The USGS confirmed on its website that 81 stations felt it over a 15-second period.
