Escada Burglarized On El Paseo

More than $10,000 in purses were taken from a display window, a sheriff's lieutenant says.

The store in Palm Desert's high end shopping district was burglarized early this morning, a sheriff's deputy said.

The burglary was reported at 3:50 a.m. at the clothing store at 73811 El Paseo, near San Luis Rey Avenue, according to Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Lt. Andrew Shouse said the burglar smashed a display window and took $10,000 worth of purses.

"These are really expensive handbags," Shouse said.

This is the third major theft reported on El Paseo in the past week. A Canadian was injured in a last week, and a woman's purse was Sunday.
