FBI Investigation Prompts Amber Alert For Missing SoCal Teen

Authorities believe Raine Gonzales, 13, was abducted by Lorenzo "Carlos" Guerrero, a 43-year-old Hispanic man.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — The Dec. 10 disappearance of a 13-year-old Brawley girl prompted an Amber Alert Thursday on behalf of the FBI's San Diego office.

Raine Gonzales went missing from her home and was last seen with Lorenzo "Carlos" Guerrero, a man in his 40s, according to authorities. The child's relationship, if any, with Guerrero was not disclosed.

The Amber Alert was activated by the California Highway Patrol Thursday afternoon.

The two were seen in a silver Mercedes Benz C230, California license plate 5ZFS158. According to the FBI, the vehicle belongs to the girl's family.

The teen is described as 5-feet-9-inches tall, 115 pounds with brown hair and eyes. Guerrero is 5-feet-7-inches tall, weighing 180 pounds. He is bald with black eyes. He was seen wearing an Atlanta Braves jersey.

The FBI's San Diego office did not answer specific questions about Guerrero but instead issued an emailed response that read in full: "On December 13, 2023, FBI San Diego Imperial County Resident Agency initiated an investigation to support Brawley Police Department on a matter involving 13 year old, missing juvenile Raine Gonzales. Gonzales was last observed leaving her apartment complex in her family’s silver 2007 Mercedes Benz sedan with 44 year old Lorenzo “Carlos” Guerrero at approximately 5:17 PM on December 10, 2023. They have not been seen since and their whereabouts are unknown at this time. FBI San Diego can not provide any additional information. If anyone has any information regarding missing juvenile Gonzales or Guerrero, please contact FBI San Diego at 858-320-1800."
