PALM DESERT, CA — The Coachella Valley Firebirds, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Seattle Kraken, and Palm Desert's The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens have partnered to provide educational opportunities across the Coachella Valley, they shared this week. The partnership will be celebrated Wednesday, on World Desert Day as the Firebirds host the Tucson Roadrunners at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert.

World Desert Day raises awareness about desert ecosystems' importance, unique biodiversity, and challenges. Raising awareness is crucial in fostering a deeper understanding of desert ecosystems.

Allen Monroe, President/CEO of The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, had this to say about the day and the partnership:

“Deserts account for roughly one-third of the Earth’s landmass and are richly diverse, critical ecosystems found on every continent,” Monroe said in a released statement. “The Living Desert is thrilled to partner with the Firebirds and Acrisure Arena in celebrating and spreading awareness of these special spaces – along with simple, everyday actions people can make to help save the deserts and desert-dwelling species.”

John Page, Senior Vice President of Oak View Group, Acrisure Arena and the Coachella Valley Firebirds, had this to say about the partnership:
