Fireman, 2 Residents Injured in Garage Fire

Two residents were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation and a firefighter was treated for minor injuries.

Fire damaged the garage of a house in Palm Desert Friday, and two residents and a firefighter were transported to a hospital for treatment, a county fire department spokeswoman said.

The fire was reported shortly after 11 a.m. at a single-story home in the 37700 block of Festival Drive. The blaze was contained to the garage and declared out in about 45 minutes, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

Two residents were transported for treatment of minor smoke inhalation and a firefighter was treated for minor injuries, Hendrickson said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
