Flash Flood Warning Issued In Coachella Valley
The National Weather Service said motorists should turn around when encountering flooded roads. "Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — The National Weather Service in San Diego issued a Flash Flood Warning Monday afternoon for the Coachella Valley.
The warning remains in effect through 6 p.m. Monday.
At 3:02 p.m., Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen, and additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.25 inches are possible in the warned area.

"Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," the agency announced.

The desert is not the only region impacted by the monsoonal weather. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop Monday at Los Angeles International Airport, Long Beach Airport and John Wayne Airport in Orange County due to thunderstorm activity in the region. Read more here.
