Gas Price Near Palm Desert Drops For 14th Time In 15 Days

The average price to fill up a tank of gas is still 31.4 cents per gallon higher than one year ago, data shows.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Friday for the 11th consecutive day and 14th of the past 15, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $3.99, its lowest amount since April 13.

The average price has dropped 7.1 cents over the past 15 days, including 1 cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 4.4 cents less than one week ago and 1.6 cent lower than one month ago but 31.4 cents higher than one year ago.

"Local refineries have restarted production, reducing the need for expensive imports and pushing prices downward in time for an all-time record number of 3.35 million Southern Californians getting ready to travel over the Memorial Day holiday next weekend," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
