PALM DESERT, CA — A hiker was rescued Saturday from an inaccessible area in a Palm Desert trail, the Riverside County Fire Department announced.

Firefighters responded to a report of a person experiencing an unspecified medical emergency around 10:40 a.m. Saturday at The Cross Trail.

The hiker was airlifted by a Riverside County Sheriff's Department rescue helicopter and taken to an awaiting ambulance.
