Even though Coachella is over for 2024, Indio city officials issued an advisory for motorists. Amid the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Stagecoach Festival, the officials announced that Avenue 50 between Monroe Street and Madison Avenue will be temporarily closed from March 25 to May 6.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to adjust their commutes accordingly. Recommended detours during the festival period include Highway 111, Dr. Carreon Boulevard, Avenue 48, and Avenue 52.
“The closure of Avenue 50 is essential to ensure the safety of workers, residents, and commuters alike,” said Indio's Community Services Manager Jim Curtis. “By using the recommended alternative routes, we can work together towards another exciting year where we showcase the City of Indio and greater Coachella Valley to those visiting from around the world.”
Another round of world visitors is arriving this week for the Stagecoach country music festival, which begins Friday at the Empire Polo Club, 81-800 51st Ave. Eric Church, Miranda Lambert and Morgan Wallen are the scheduled headliners. Other acts at the country music festival include Jelly Roll, Elle King, Dwight Yoakam, Carin Leon, Paul Cauthen, Post Malone, Willie Nelson, Leon Bridges, Ernest and Charley Crockett, Hardy, Bailey Zimmerman, The Beach Boys, Megan Moroney and Clint Black.
Additionally, Stagecoach festival-goers will have the opportunity to meet for late-night performances in the Palomino stage, which will feature Nickelback, Diplo, and Wiz Khalifa, according to festival organizers.
As is tradition, the venue will also feature a ferris wheel, the Compton Cowboys, Guy Fieri's Stagecoach Smokehouse and a Honkytonk Dance Hall.
