Injured Hiker Rescued On Trail Near Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, CA — A hiker was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries Wednesday after being rescued from a hiking trail in an unincorporated area of Riverside County near Palm Desert.

Fire crews responded at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday to a report of an inaccessible rescue on the Art Smith Hiking Trail, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

When crews reached the destination, it was found that the hiker sustained moderate injuries, fire officials said. A UTV and other resources were used to remove the hiker from the trail.

American Medical Response personnel subsequently took the hiker to a hospital.
