Multiple Injuries Reported In Separate Indio Crashes
At least three crash victims were injured, authorities said.
INDIO, CA — Multiple injuries were reported Wednesday in two separate vehicle crashes in Indio, according to authorities.
In an early morning crash on Interstate 10, at least one person was injured after several vehicles were involved in a collision, prompting road closures and major backup on the freeway.
The incident was reported at 5:07 a.m. on the westbound freeway near Jefferson Street and the Indio Boulevard off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials said several vehicles were involved and all three westbound lanes were closed after the crash. Officers were directing vehicles to exit at Monroe Street. A Sigalert was issued shortly before 6 a.m. The westbound lanes reopened by 8:17 a.m.
The CHP later reported that the collision resulted in at least one injury, but did not immediately provide further details.

Later in the day, two people were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle collision and rollover.
Fire crews responded at 12:14 p.m. to a report of the collision in the area of Avenue 50 and Hjorth Street, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
One person was extricated from a vehicle and taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
A second person was later taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, according to fire officials.
The Indio Police Department was investigating the crash.
