INDIO, CA — A man was in custody Sunday on suspicion of killing his parents in Indio.
Indio police officers responded to the 45000 block of Green Hills Court to conduct a welfare check on an elderly couple, but were not able to contact anyone at the home, according to a police department news release obtained by KTLA5.
Further investigations led officers to a second address, in the 78000 block of Blooming Court in Palm Desert, where they spoke with the couple's son, 51-year-old Kevin James Reddy, KTLA5 reported. The contact escalated into a standoff when Reddy allegedly refused to exit the residence.

It was unclear when the reported events transpired. Indio police did not immediately respond to a request from City News Service for further details and the department's news release being cited could not be located online.
Based on the suspicious circumstances of Reddy's parents' whereabouts, officers conducted an interior safety sweep of the Green Hills Court home, forcing their way in, where they found the bodies of the two 84-year-olds, whose names were not made public. Physical evidence at the scene indicated they had been killed.
