A man riding a custom chopper was fatally injured Sunday in a crash with a sedan on Pioneertown Road outside Yucca Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Troy J. Lewis, 51, of Yucca Valley, was riding the motorcycle south on Pioneertown Road, north of Skyline Ranch Road just before 8 p.m. Oct. 20 when the crash occurred, CHP Officer Alex Scott said in a statement.
Domenic P. Provenzano, 43, of Rancho Mirage, was driving a 2012 Mazda 3 sedan north on Pioneertown Road when Lewis veered into the northbound lane and was struck head-on by Provenzano's vehicle, Scott said.
"Lewis was pronounced deceased on-scene," Scott said. "Alcohol consumption by Lewis is a suspected factor in this collision."
