Massive Fire At Palm Desert Cannabis Operation Under Investigation

PALM DESERT, CA — An intense fire overnight at a Palm Desert cannabis operation sent flames and heavy smoke across the region and injured one civilian.

The blaze was reported at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday at 73-818 Dinah Shore Drive. The commercial building has a conditional use permit in place for cannabis manufacturing.

According to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department Division Chief Todd Hopkins, witnesses told the agency an explosion was heard when the blaze broke out.

A civilian suffered minor hand and arm burns in the fire and was sent to a local hospital, Hopkins said.
