Multiple Earthquakes Rattle Riverside County And Beyond

Earthquakes shook the region in and near Riverside County on Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The most recent quake was reported just before 5 p.m. and was centered near the Salton Sea. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the temblor was a magnitude 3.1.
At 1:33 p.m. Tuesday, a magnitude 2.7 quake struck near Moreno Valley, the USGS reported.

Several other earthquakes rattled the state further north on Tuesday. The largest was a magnitude 4.4 temblor outside Willits in Mendocino County. It struck just after 1 p.m. A smaller quake — magnitude 3.8 — followed in the same area at 2:51 p.m.
The USGS reported a magnitude 3.1 quake at 12:20 p.m. in the remote mining area of Johannesburg in Kern County.

Two smaller quakes were also felt on Tuesday, according to the USGS. A magnitude 2.7 temblor was reported just before 5:30 a.m. near San Simeon, and a magnitude 2.6 hit at 6 p.m. near Pacifica.
