Narcotics Lead To Palm Desert Man's Arrest: RSO

PALM DESERT, CA — A 28-year-old man suspected of possessing narcotics in Palm Desert was behind bars Tuesday.

Erik Alan West of Palm Desert was arrested and booked Monday into Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of narcotics-related charges and resisting arrest, according to Sgt. Robert Martinez of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Bail information was not immediately available.

Deputies attempted to contact him for allegedly using illicit drugs in public shortly before 3 p.m. Monday in the area of Town Center and Hahn Road. West fled from authorities and discarded a bag nearby, Martinez said. He was detained a short time afterward and was found in possession of illegal narcotics, authorities added.
